You've heard that good things come in small packages, and this coffee is no exception. The definitive microlot, this Nicaraguan Matagalpa from the Castro estate, part of Las Nubes cooperative is produced without fertilizers or pesticides. Andrea Castro lacks the resources for chemical treatment of her crop, which lowers its yield. She's hoping that the sales of this year's crop will be enough to support her family, and that the quality of this coffee will be enough to guarantee sales of future crops. The Las Nubes cooperative is trying to aid its producers, like Andrea Castro, by separating the crops by farm, and helping them attain financial and technical assistance where able. Hulled beans are hand-selected to ensure only the finest, undamaged beans are included in the final product, meaning the coffee you're drinking is grown naturally, selected naturally, and its proceeds are directly benefitting the people who worked to grow it. |
